Sorry…

I am sorry I have not been updating my blog for a while, but as I said before I am busy catching the blessings, I am not saying that metaphorically. Let me explain I got a rotation with OB/GYN and so we are delivering babies. Babies= Blessings 😀

I am having lots of fun. Surgery and OB/GYN are my two dream jobs, and so I am living my dream.

During my intern years, I stole OB duties from my friends so, I can deliver babies.Today after delivering the first baby in USA, I told the doctor “reminder of good old days.” The joy of delivering a baby is indescribable in words. The smell of the placenta and blood makes me so happy. I know it is disgusting, it was for me too at one point but it is reminder of best time of my life, the one year compulsory internship in India. Not being able to be a doctor/practice medicine in USA for the last 4 years makes me appreciate it more. I guess that is why they say, “you never know the value of something until you lose it.” When I was in India, I took my rotations for granted but now I appreciate the value of these rotations so much more as it is so difficult to get one for International medical graduate (IMG)

When I was a kid my mom delivered babies in her nursing home. As there were not a lot of liability/law suits in India the nurse used to allow me to play with the new born baby for a while, maybe that is the reason I developed my love for OB. I did not have siblings then so, I thought all the babies born in my mom’s nursing home are my siblings/dolls. 😉

Thank you for reading my blog, and hopefully I will be able to find some time to make a full blog post soon.

Media’s new golden Goose

Miley, Miley, Miley!!! I mean Miley Cyrus. Media has been obsessing about everything she does for a while. She is the media’s new golden goose. Everything she wears/does creates a controversy to the extent even our oldie goldie Rush Limbaugh (conservative radio talk show host) has something to say about it. Just so you know I love Rush; “D” got me addicted to him. In a way maybe it is good because Miley gave us a breather from obsessing about what heels Kim Kardashian is wearing? (more…)

Are you addicted to blogging? Get tested…

Last week sometime I was browsing through Indivine posts at Indiblogger and found a blog called “The Saga” by Shruthy Haridas. She happens to be in the medical profession. After I did my happy dance, I browsed over her site and found this fun little game/quiz “How much are you addicted to blogging?” As you know, I am addicted to blogging so I had to take it and as predicted I am 81% addicted to blogging. Here is my result:

81% How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

I thought maybe you guys would like it too so here is the link “How addicted to blogging are you?”

Comment down below to let me know how much you are addicted. Maybe, we should all go to BA (Blogoholic Anonymous) meetings together. 😀

Vitamin D- Quick update on my previous post

This is just a quick update on “Do shades really matter?”

In the post, I wrote Indian girls/guys were told not to go out in the sun because the skin will become darker than it already is. The problem with this is, how are we going to get our vitamin D. In a country like in India where it feels likes summer all year long we assume we are getting enough vitamin D. That is not the case. Moreover, darker skin has more melanin, which protects us from UV damage but in doing so it decreases sunlight absorption leading to vitamin D deficiency. (more…)

Do the shades really matter?

Recently, I went to watch a Tollywood (Telugu) movie with my brother and his friends. It was almost an hour’s drive from my brother’s place. We grabbed a bite from a restaurant on our way to the movies. When we were eating, I had a crazy and frustrating conversation with my brother’s friend. Though I did not know what to make of it, my idea that society is filled with hypocrites was just reinforced. Let’s call my brother’s friend “A.” (more…)

Death for all four convicts in Delhi gang-rape case

I just found this post while I was browsing Indivine at IndiBlogger. I think the author put it together well and there is not much I would want to add to what she already said. Therefore, I decided to reblog her post. I am not sure, but I think this is the first time that justice has been served so swiftly in Indian Judicial system. Maybe India is changing and maybe not, but in respect to this particular incident, I think justice has been served at least to an extent. I say, “to an extent” because the fifth monster is getting away because he is a “minor.” (more…)
